I’ve just updated my website. In the Shakespeare section I talk about retiring from doing the impersonations. Tim Orr, the Producing Director of the CSF, graciously received all my costumes and informed me that my name would be sewn into each one. I also gave them the last of my stage weapons, which ends the Weapon Master phase of my career. The fifty or so books also went to the CSF library; they ranged from compendiums of the plays to books about Hemmings and Condell (co-sharers in the King’s Men) and their roles and business choices. I never memorized a script for Shakespeare. I learned everything I could about the man and his times, and would talk and answer questions using that knowledge as it would spontaneously return to me in the moment. The decision to stay in Costa Rica makes the donations imperative (why gather dust). I haven’t given up Shakespeare.
Now I am working on creating the Fearless Creativity Shakespeare scripts for teachers. We use the collection of theatre games as warm-up and cohesion-building tools for both classroom and rehearsal groups. We need teachers to test the Fearless Creativity material. I would welcome any of you who are teachers (or know a likely candidate) to join us in the exploration. Contact me here or by email.
2022 Advent Season:
I’ll send out a Haiku, and participants can send one in response or write one of their own for the week.
